It’s was time for show and tell again and the topic was community helpers. The school was teaching particularly about Policeman, Postman and Fireman. My daughter came back excited one day saying they had been to a police station and it was a lady police who had helped them learn about the police station. I was quite glad to hear this.
We chose our topic as Community helper – Fireman.
So, after quite a number of ideas, I wanted something simple for my three year old to understand. What better than a story. I told her a story for a few days – yes, made up one 😉 but, it was complex to make into a show and tell.
With our love for drama, I had introduced many twists in the story 🙂
Finally, I simplified the story a lot to make the following six cards. She was sitting next to me when I was making up the cards for her. I gave her some fireman printables to work on. She was quite happy and it gave me time to add some craft touches 🙂 though later, she did confirm solemnly that the original story I had told her, did not go this way! And I thought she doesn’t really listen to me!
Here are the six pages (Half A4 size each – easy to handle): Each page gives information even though it’s part of a story. Forgive the handwriting 🙂 Next time, I try to print it out 🙂
The fireman in this picture is from a coloring sheet. If you would like to use it for your child, please click here.
Aruja was very much interested in the dog which accompanied them too 🙂 This photo was taken from here.
I wanted her to learn a new word – doused. Red glitter foam made the fire engine, Double sided tape made the ladder, a string made the hose, two black stickers for the wheels and Glitter glue in blue for the water. Don’t really look at that fireman! I cannot draw. 🙂
The End on a note of advise from fireman Sam.
You should hear how Aruja says “extinguisher” 🙂 It’s the cutest.
Hope that you will get some ideas for your show and tell in school.
Don’t forget to try the fireman printables from homeschoolcreations.
