Our last post gave us many ideas for making teachers’ day cards and gifts.
Some of the printables were really fabulous. If you haven’t read it yet, please click here.
So, what did we do this year?
We practiced this lovely chant for many days.
Guru Brahma, Guru Vishnu,
Guru Devo Maheshwara,
Guru Sakshat Para brahma,
Tasmai Shree Gurave namah.
I hope she recites it for her teacher. 🙂
Printed pattern paper
Star paper punch
Pattern and glitter cello tapes.
Double sided tape
Stick the pattern paper in place.
Add the cello tape strips to it.
Punch stars and use double sided tape to stick them. This will bring them above the background surface giving it a 3D effect.
Use double sided tape to stick the buttons on the stars.
Cut out few strips of pattern paper and stick them to make a design on the top and bottom. Use double sided tape here too.
A fresh teachers’ day gift for the teacher and Mavshi (helper).
Long ago, I had purchased some artificial flowers. Here’s what we did with them.
1) We had some artificial flowers bought in bulk from market shops.
2) We removed the petals and separated the green stalks.
3) We mixed the petals making our own combinations and used buttons in the center. We stitched the buttons onto the flowers thereby making them quite colorful and bright. The stitching also made them tamper proof and sturdy.
I think they would look lovely as hair accessories too. Aruja loved the one she had worn but unfortunately I was unable to get any “still” pictures of her as she was dancing her and there all along. Just attach the flower to a hair slide or a hair pin. Make a thread loop and slide it in for best results.
Aruja surprised me by making her own combinations of pink and purple (of course!) and she actually helped stitch. I would poke in the needle in the right place and she would pull. I think all such activities help her in color coordination and also improve her fine motor skills. She made the tiny flower and insisted on giving it to her teacher.
From our mickey & Minnie party, We had a small paper fan lying around. We used it to attach the flower on it and make a wall hanging. It already had a thread loop. And for the second flower, we just stuck a magnet behind it to make it into a lovely flower magnet.
And here are our gifts. We hope the teacher will like them.
Lots of love and patience for the long weekend holidays. 😉
